    Local Vibes

Wine and dine your way through Avoca, where plentiful vineyards merge with a rich history and lush surrounds on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung People. Nestled at the base of the Pyrenees Ranges, Avoca's country charm makes it the ideal setting for a weekend getaway – a great starting point for a range of activities from vineyard tours to bushwalking.

    Wine and dine

Embark on a self-guided tour of Avoca's local wineries. With over 25 cellar doors to choose from, visitors can sample a wide range of Pyrenees wines, from refreshing sparkling varietals to full-bodied reds. For those that want to keep the party going, why not spend the night at a local winery.

    Cellar bound

Looking to stock up before heading home? A few notable cellar doors to get you started include Blue Pyrenees, Taltarni Vineyard, Sally's Paddock Redbank Winery, Mount Avoca Wines, Dalwhinnie Wine and Summerfield Winery.

    Racing in the Pyrenees

Join the merry throng of race-goers at the Avoca Shire Turf Club for the iconic Avoca Cup, held each year on Caulfield Cup Day. Visiting in autumn? The club's Autumn Race Day also offers a fun-filled country racing experience in late March. Pitch your tent a stone's throw from the racecourse, tuck into local food and wine and join the thousands who descend on the town for country revelry and thoroughbred racing.

If the races aren't for you, explore the Pyrenees Ranges at your own pace. The ranges is a great spot for camping as well as bike riding and bushwalking for all skills and fitness levels. Go for a scenic hike or take it up a notch on a downhill mountain biking track.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
