    Local Vibes

Experience Warragul, a thriving rural town set amongst rolling green hills and dairy fields, on the lands of the Gunaikurnai and Bunurong People. Spend a few days wandering through the heritage buildings and galleries, then explore Gippsland gourmet country and the beautiful Mt Baw Baw snowfields.

    History and heritage

Wander down Queen Street and take in the 19th century architecture found in the ornate facades and archways of the local banks, shops and hotels. Take a trip back in time at the heritage-listed Warragul Station and Shire Hall, built in 1893, which now houses the historical society. If you need some fresh air, head to the countryside and discover the beauty of the surrounding fields and hills with a drive along the Old Sale Road.

    Food and wine

Warragul has a thriving food and wine scene, with a focus on paddock to plate. Visit lively Warragul Farmer's Market, spread across Civic Park every month, for an abundance of local produce to take home or devour on the day. Drop into Stella's Pantry for decadent cheeses and deli goods, or pick up excellent wine at Press Cellars.

Tuck into inventive eats and coffee at one of Warragul’s hip cafes and bakeries, or at The Courthouse, which also serves dinner. Venture further afield to celebrated Hogget Kitchen at Wild Dog Winery for boutique local wine and a menu showcasing the best local produce.

    Visual art and music

Visit the numerous galleries and studios dotted around the local area. From handspun alpaca garments to sculpture, live music to craft markets, there's plenty of things to spark the imagination. Stroll through Laurie Collins' sculpture garden and take home a unique piece of metal sculpture or catch a performance at the West Gippsland Arts Centre.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
