    Local Vibes

Step into another world at Woodend, on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung peoples, a nineteenth century resort town and home base for the mysterious Hanging Rock.

    Happy wanderings

Stroll past historical buildings and the old clock tower on Main Street and then cruise around local boutiques for antiques and gifts to take home.

Continue exploring on two wheels by hitting the Three Town Scenic Route. The trail kicks off at Woodend Train Station and takes in Woodend, Trentham, Kyneton. Pedal your way from town to town along country lanes and leafy back roads.

    Mad dogs and mystics

Pack a picnic lunch and climb nearby Hanging Rock, set of Peter Weir's film Picnic at Hanging Rock. Explore the dramatic rock formations, native flora and fauna, and the hideout of infamous bushrangers like 'Mad Dog' Morgan.

    Come together

Feeling festive? Fuel up with a microbrew at Holgate Brewhouse or sparkling wine at Hanging Rock Winery. Get along to events at the rock, from classic cars and off-road running to Camp Out At The Rock and raucous New Years' Eve races.

Stock up on fresh produce at the farmers market, held on the first Saturday of each month, and catch writers, musicians, dancers and cooks at the Woodend Winter Arts Festival in June.

Looking to entertain the kids? Hit town in July for the Woodend Children's Festival, a fun-filled day of music, circus, dance and storytelling. Stay a bit longer to discover the Woodend Children's Park, complete with flying fox, climbing wall and BBQs.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
