    Local Vibes

Delve into Stawell's rich and varied history and sample renowned local wines on your tour of the Grampians. Located just 20-minutes out of Halls Gap in the Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park, on the lands of the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk peoples of the Wotjobaluk Nations, it is the service centre for the Grampians and features fascinating cultural tours, museums, wineries and golf.

    Race to the finish

Be a part of the excitement as the country's best runners descend on Stawell for the Stawell Gift foot race, a part of the historic Easter festival since way back in 1878. Check out the Stawell Gift Hall of Fame to learn more about this iconic 120-metre dash.

    Golden history

Explore the Stawell Cultural Heritage Trail to see the town's striking gold rush architecture. Take a wander through the Town Hall, see gold rush artefacts and nineteenth century costumes at the Pleasant Creek Courthouse Museum, and visit the historic Stawell railway station.

    Nature reserves

Discover the Stawell Ironbarks Forest by bike or on foot. Located in the Deep Lead Nature Conservation Reserve, the forest is best seen in spring, when wild blooms are in season. Take in the natural surrounds and try to spot some of the endangered species that have made this forest one of the most important conservation sites in Victoria.

    Ancient artworks

Travel to nearby Black Range and take the walk to Bunjil's Shelter – a huge rock overhang with ancient rock art depicting Bunjil, an Aboriginal spirit figure.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
