    Local Vibes

Cast a line, hitch a ride on the back of a boat, or float along in the comforts of a houseboat around Eildon, where water means life. When travelling across Eildon, you will be visiting the lands of the Taungurung People.

    Life on the water

Use the small, welcoming village of Eildon as a base for enjoying a wide range of recreational activities around Lake Eildon, with its 500 kilometres of shoreline, sheltered bays and safe swimming areas.

Try your hand at exhilarating water sports, like waterskiing, kayaking and wakeboarding, as well as the more leisurely pastimes of fishing and houseboating.

    Thrills in the great outdoors

Bushwalk, camp and picnic in Lake Eildon National Park, which surrounds the lake's shore. Witness stunning panoramas over the lake and keep your eye out for native wildlife.

Head into the nearby forests and mountains, perfect for four-wheel-driving and mountain biking, while the rushing rivers offer the thrills of canoeing, white water rafting, and some of the state's best trout fishing.

    Life-giving waters

Learn about the importance of Eildon Dam, established in the 1950s to deliver life-sustaining irrigation waters to a large area of northern Victoria.

Check water levels before travelling during the summer months as water levels can change throughout the year.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
