    Local Vibes

City sophistication meets good old country hospitality in Wangaratta, a bustling rural city with an outdoor lifestyle that is also home to excellent eateries and a renowned annual jazz festival. When travelling in Wangaratta, you will be visiting the lands of the Yorta Yorta People.

    Get jazzy

Time your visit to coincide with one of the city's many memorable festivals and events, especially November's Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues, held annually in town and at nearby wineries.

Catch comedy, theatre and opera at the gleaming performing arts centre, and see the ever-changing art exhibitions at the Wangaratta Art Gallery.

    A river runs through it

Soak up the outdoor lifestyle on the banks of the Ovens River, which runs right through town, or head further afield on a camping trip to the nearby wetlands, Redgum forest and granite hills of the Warby-Ovens National Park, the ideal spot for some wilderness adventures.

Fabulous food in and around town

You won't go hungry in Wangaratta, with its plethora of cafes and eateries. Indulge with a meal at Rinaldo's Casa Cucina, which celebrates the produce of the nearby King Valley, and cafes The PreVue and Derailleur, with its homebaked breads and pastries.

Make sure you follow your appetite out of town and into Milawa and King Valley and the gourmet food, spectacular scenery and historic towns. Meet family vintners as you tour intimate, authentic wineries that continue the region's history of entrepreneurial and exciting winemaking.

    Wangaratta up close

Wander Wangaratta's broad main street, past historic buildings and through riverside parklands. Discover the city's heritage at the Wangaratta Historical Museum and Vine Hotel Cellar Museum.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
