    Sips & Stories

Bright craft distillery, Reed & Co Distillery was established in 2016 by chefs turned distillers Hamish Nugent and Rachel Reed. It all began at the helm of their former hatted restaurant Tani. Reed & Co was founded as a result of inspiration from the botanicals of the natural landscape in Victoria’s high country, and seeking to express the beautifully unique place in a bottle of gin. That produced Remedy, an ode to Bright, a true Australian dry bush gin. Distilling became their primary passion for flavour creation and the distillery door/bar opened around the corner at 15 Wills Street in the alpine valley town the following year.

Reed & Co’s philosophy of distilling the landscape, capturing the flavours of North East Victoria through botanicals both wild and locally grown is carried through all their spirits.

Hamish and Rachel continue to use their knowledge of botanicals and techniques to innovatively represent North East Victoria through award-winning gin, shochu, liqueurs and alternative spirits.

Visit the distillery door and bar to enjoy Reed & Co’s spirits tastings, cocktails, and bar snacks or to purchase a bottle or two to take a bit of the High Country with you.

Recognition from the industry has seen Reed & Co featured in Good Food, Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, Broadsheet, AFR, Delicious, Qantas Magazine and Washington Post..just to name a few.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
