Open since 2008, Cumulus Inc. is located in Melbournes famous art and fashion precinct, Flinders Lane. Celebrating the historic turn of the century rag trade building in which it is located, the space is a busy social hub offering a seasonal menu that celebrates the very best in Victorian produce.
High, industrial windows collect clean, bright light from Flinders Lane and an open kitchen is on display behind a long, white marble bar. The entire menu celebrates local ingredients at the peak of their season and the service is relaxed, approachable and purposeful. The flexible offering allows one to use the restaurant however they need to, throughout the day and into the evening. Dishes are intended to share charcuterie, locally caught seafood, heirloom vegetables or the signature whole roast lamb shoulder, which is slow roasted for 12 hours.
Current highlights include their weekday Harvest Lunch special, as they love to cook and eat by the harvest calendar the cycle of produce grown as the weather cools, rains, frosts and then warms again, as well as afternoon oyster hour from 3-5pm Monday to Friday.
Cumulus Inc. has three event spaces with events hosted in the ARC ONE gallery next door, and two unique spaces upstairs from the main restaurant.
