    Fresh Air Vibes

The Bunurong Coastal Drive stretches from the town of Cape Paterson to Inverloch. Cruise along rocky cliffs, stop at secluded beaches, discover hidden coves and take in the stunning shorelines of the Bunurong Marine and Coastal Park.

Drive straight on from one seaside hamlet to the next, or take your time, stopping at scenic vantage points along the way. Make a stop at Twin Reefs, The Oaks and Shack Bay, for elevated, panoramic views. Take a break at Eagles Nest, a sandstone stack formed out of headlands weathered by the elements. Low tide reveals sandstone formations and large rock pools, teaming with a vast array of marine life.

The first dinosaur bone to be discovered in Australia, the ‘Cape Paterson Claw’, was found in this area in 1903. Enthusiastic paleontologists can go fossicking at the Dinosaur Dreaming site near Flat Rocks at low tide, where thousands of bones, teeth and footprints from small dinosaurs have since been discovered.

Visit during the summertime, to explore some of the most beautiful beaches along Australia’s southern coast. Take the drive from May to October for the chance to see humpback and southern right whales making their migratory journey past the coast.

    Total distance: 14 kilometres
    Driving time: Around 15 minutes
    Start: Cape Paterson to Inverloch

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
