    Why You’ll Love It

This fascinating tourist railway and museum features local timber history from the Rubicon Forest and other historical displays. The museum is open selected weekend days and trains will usually run when they are open. It is essential you check the website for the timetable. Late changes are on the site front page.

The Museum’s Heritage Machinery Festival on the first weekend in October is our annual ‘big event’ that features many exhibitors from around Victoria and helps to highlight one of the largest industrial machinery collections in Australia.

There are lots of children’s activities, a picnic area and the Great Victorian Rail Trail that starts and ends at the museum.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
