    Local Vibes

Arrive in Bacchus Marsh, visiting the lands of the Wurundjeri and the Wadawurrung peoples, to discover the town's rich heritage, renowned seasonal produce, and magnificent state parks.

Begin your stay in Bacchus Marsh with a slow cruise down The Avenue of Honour, a street lined with elm, oak and plane trees, planted in memory of those who served in the World War I. Savour the splendour of these majestic gardens, reflect on the town's past, and see one of the worlds great 'Living Memorials' up close.

    Nature's blessings

With everything from plunging gorges and glacial valleys to lush forests and wildflowers in bloom, the state parks surrounding Bacchus Marsh are top spots for nature lovers. Lerderderg Gorge, Werribee Gorge, Long Forest Nature Conservation Reserve and the tall timbers of Wombat State Forest are all within easy reach. Bottle your own mineral water from Blackwood Mineral Springs by the Lerderderg River or venture further afield to find springtime colour in the Brisbane Ranges.

    A full basket

Snap up summertime strawberries, autumnal pumpkins and other seasonal produce grown in nearby orchards, market gardens, market stalls and roadside vendors.

    History on every corner

Learn about the First Nations people who first inhabited the region and whose legacy is reflected in place names such as Myrniong, taken from the word murnong meaning 'yam daisy' in Wadawurrung language.

Walking and cycling trails spread through historic Bacchus Marsh township and beyond. Ride the Avenue of Honour River Circuit or take the fragrant Werribee River Peppertree Park walk. Stop by the Blacksmith's Cottage and check out the bandstand in Maddingley Park.

On the rocky outcrops overlooking Bacchus Marsh, visit the shrine to Our Lady and the replica of Ta Pinu Basilica from the Maltese island of Gozo.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
