Cruise into historic Bright, a picturesque village in Victoria’s High Country. Wander along the Ovens River that meanders through town and explore the stunning forest all around. Witness the deciduous trees in their colourful autumnal splendour and return throughout the year to take advantage of the village’s proximity to Victoria’s alps, national parks and home-grown food and wine.

Peddling adventures

Two-wheel action is superb around Bright, whether you’re a road cyclist or a mountain biker. The area has world-class MTB tracks – the perfect adventure for adrenaline junkies. Head to Mystic Bike Park for a diverse range of trails, suitable for beginners and more experienced riders alike. Get your heart pumping at nearby Falls Creek, as you spin around the 50-kilometre mountain bike park, or challenge yourself on the off-road trails.

Prefer to tackle life at a leisurely pace? Hire an eBike to explore Bright’s excellent biking trails. Cruise the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail through the Ovens River Valley. Take on the 7 Peaks Ride to cycle all seven peaks of Victoria at your own pace, or sign up for the Peaks Challenge – the state’s premier alpine road cycling event.

First-rate foodie scene

Visit boutique wineries, stock up on stunning produce and taste local ingredients in village cafes and restaurants. Linger in Bright Brewery, in excellent cafes such as Ginger Baker and Sixpence Coffee and spend your nights sampling exciting dishes matched with fine wine, liquors and brews at Tomahawks, Reed & Co Distillery and the Billy Button Wines cellar door.

Join in the festivities, discover new recipes and meet the makers of some of Victoria’s finest food, wine and craft beer. Duck out to the nearby villages of Wandiligong and Porepunkah and delight in more superb food and wine, or tickle your tastebuds at wineries nestled in the alpine valleys. Drink in stunning views of Mount Buffalo at both Feathertop Winery and Ringer Reef Winery, as you sample from their diverse range of wines. The Wandi Pub is a short drive from Bright and offers a menu of award-winning pub meals, paired with craft beer and cider.

It’s an alpine affair

With plenty of big houses and multiple cabin retreats on offer, Bright is perfect for those big family trips or getaways with friends. Base yourself in Bright for winter snow activities, and return in spring and summer for hiking, kayaking, and even ballooning over the Alpine National Park.

View Bright’s picturesque setting on the Ovens River from lookouts at Mount Buffalo. See scenery like nothing else on the 230-kilometre Bogong Alpine Way (part of the Great Alpine Road), which loops through Bright, Mount Beauty, Falls Creek and over Dinner Plain and Mount Hotham.
