This walk or roll beside the Campaspe River travels the flat top half of the Campaspe River Walk through marvellous River Red Gum forest right in the heart of Echuca. The combination of river, bushland, trees and birdlife is lovely. The walk as mapped extends to where the path leaves the forest. Here you turn back to Pascoe Park.

This is an easy-to-follow linear path. There are no directional or distance signs. You can travel further into the residential area if you wish. However, please note there will be a long mild incline on your return from Lions Park below. It may not suit everyone.

How accessible is the path?
The walk as mapped is accessible to everyone on foot or using a mobility aid.

The path is in good condition and consistently 2.3 meters wide, enough for two people to travel side-by-side, pass and turn a wheelchair. The only slope on this walk as mapped is a short, shallow dip at the start with a mild incline.

There are locations along the path where cars can pull alongside to collect people for shorter options. Mobile phone coverage is good.

The Campaspe Esplanade (dirt road) runs parallel for 350 meters of the path length. There is little traffic. There are safety rails where the Esplanade briefly abuts the walking path.

Edges have small drop offs to gravel, dirt or grass. Occasional small root rises are present. There is little camber and are no steps. No overhead obstacles were encountered, but there are overhanging branches.

Rest areas
The path is shaded by the trees of the riverbank forest for much of the walk. There are exposed stretches as well. At the return point there is one shaded seat with a backrest connected to the path.

An old picnic table and bin are available at Pascoe Park. No drinking water is provided, carry water. Refreshments are available in the Echuca city centre (200 meters by car). There are accessible toilets at the Port of Echuca (300 meters by car).

Dogs must be on a leash, cyclists may share this path. The river is subject to flooding.

Parking
There is a large turning circle with space for drivers to park, collect or drop people off in Pascoe Park on the river. There are no designated accessible parking bays, but there is plenty of room for pulling up right alongside the sealed walking path. The path starts immediately beside the parking area. The parking surface is firm, wide and flat of packed earth and gravel. It may get muddy when wet. There are no kerbs or road crossings.
