Echuca Historical Society’s Museum is the one place in town where you can really go to find ‘curiosities’ and sink your teeth into some remarkable stories.
Just step into the enclosed back veranda display and you will find a fascinating – at times comical – collection of children’s toys from yesteryear, period clothing and furniture – and false teeth.
Our new Echuca Hospital display will shock and amaze you with just how primitive medicine was in the early days of the town. Check out some of the old surgical instruments, that look more like medieval torture devices than life-saving tools.
We regularly turn over the outfits in the costume room and have once again just changed the display to now feature a recent donation of three white afternoon dresses from 1880 alongside three of our well-loved ‘regulars’ from 1847 to 1900.
Also included in the display are beaded decorations for the fashionable woman from 1880 – and there’s no doubt many of these accessories would work perfectly well today.
Groups are welcome but please let us know so we can accommodate your visit.
