This landmark program sees Flinders Quartet join forces with Eric Avery - Ngiyampaa, Yuin, Bundjalung and Gumbaynggirr artist - in a through-composed work integrating violin, voice, dance and quartet, exploring connection to land, identity and resilience. Avery's artistry embodies the healing and transformative power of music, bridging cultural knowledge with contemporary expression.
Alongside this new work, the program re-introduces Nicole Brady's Ricochet, a debut string quartet commissioned through FQ's Ascend composer program. The concert culminates with Ravel's timeless String Quartet in F major which infuses both Brady and Avery's music: a masterpiece of texture and colour. Together, these works create a program that traverses worlds - ancient and modern, personal and universal - offering audiences an unforgettable experience of musical and cultural dialogue.
