    The event vibe

Merrijig Rodeo is a fun, family-friendly event held every year on the Saturday of the March Labour Day long weekend. In 2026, they'll be celebrating their 50th rodeo.

There's something for everyone at this rodeo, from kids' sideshow fun and tasty food stalls to a licensed bar for the grown-ups. For nearly five decades, they have been bringing the excitement of rodeo to the High Country and giving back to the local community. Every year, profits from the event go straight to the amazing volunteer groups who help make it all happen. Whether you're a seasoned rodeo fan or a first-time visitor, you'll find fun, excitement, and a warm country welcome waiting for you.

Set in the stunning foothills of Mount Buller, Merrijig is about as scenic as it gets. With the mountains as your backdrop and the sun on your face, you might feel like you've stepped into a movie, and you wouldn't be wrong. The iconic Man from Snowy River films were shot in Merrijig and the surrounding area.

Get your tickets early, as this event has sold out for the past four years.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
