Nagambie

Travel just over an hour from Melbourne and find yourself surrounded by leading wineries, fertile plains and sparkling waterways on the lands of the Taungurung People.

Take a wander through town and check out the statue of Black Caviar, the legendary racehorse who was born in Nagambie and remained undefeated throughout her racing career.

Enjoy the sweeping views from the distinctive observation tower at Mitchelton Wines, and make a day of it at Tahbilk Winery and Vineyard with wine tastings and a leisurely cruise. Finish up with refreshments at the Tahbilk Wetlands Café.

Grab your oars

Hit the waters of the majestic Goulburn River and be surrounded by the abundant bird life, native plants and local wildlife. The river is one of Victoria's largest inland river systems, and it passes through Lake Nagambie and on to the historic Goulburn Weir.

Enjoy sailing and water skiing on Lake Nagambie, which is also host to Australia's national standard rowing and canoeing titles during summer.

Sky dive, glide or hot air balloon for a different perspective of the area, and take in the spectacular views of the magnificent Strathbogie Ranges and surrounding plains.
