    Why you’ll love it

The Burrow at Wombat Bend is a beautifully designed fully self-contained mudbrick and cedar cottage overlooking five-acres of majestic trees, lawn, bottle brush and a billabong teeming with birdlife. You'll find generous breakfast provisions in your cottage on arrival and you can even pre-order evening meals, made by a local chef.

The property is just an hour's drive from Melbourne CBD or the Airport, and only ten minutes from Yarra Glen. The shady billabong is a paradise for birds and wildlife, so nature lovers (a couple, or solo travellers) can enjoy total peace and relaxation while watching Mother Nature's show!

If you want to explore the Yarra Valley, you're right in the heart of it, a five-minute drive from wineries, cellar doors, restaurants, shops, galleries, artists' studios, gardens, and amazing hikes/walks. And back at the property, after a day's exploring, you can sit back and enjoy a close encounter with the birds, and wildlife, surrounded by nature, in a purely Australian setting.

Watch the sunset over the billabong, a glass of wine beside you; toast some marshmallows by the fire pit, as you listen to the soothing frog song, close to nature and the stars, and a million miles from stress.

For those seeking a writer's retreat, or a photographer's inspiration, they offer affordable longer stay packages.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
