    Local Vibes

Take some time out and explore the quiet fishing hamlet of Rhyll. Enjoy a wander through the pristine natural landscapes surrounding the village, discover abundant wildlife, and dine out on local seafood, fresh out of the water. When travelling in Rhyll, you will be visiting the lands of the Bunurong People.

    Small luxuries

Experience a cafe with true local flavour at Wild Food Farm, where native plants are used in fresh and delicious meals. Sip award-winning cool climate wines at Purple Hen Winery and tuck into succulent seafood at local eateries, including the popular Foreshore Bar and Restaurant. Come sunset, watch the sky change colour from the bay windows of a local B&B.

    Birdlife on show

Take a stroll through the mangroves of Rhyll Inlet and Conservation Hill, renowned for the number and diversity of local birdlife. See royal spoonbills, swans and straw-necked ibises, as well as the million-strong colony of migrating shearwaters (mutton birds) inbound from Alaska.

    Sail away

Hire a boat or charter a fishing expedition and reel in some of Western Port's bounty, including flathead, snapper and whiting. Boat owners can access the excellent all-tide boat ramp, while land lovers can barbeque on the foreshore to the sounds of water lapping on the sand.

We acknowledge the First Peoples throughout Victoria and their ongoing connection to the land and waters.

For over 60,000 years they have cared for Country and preserved our beautiful landscapes. We pay our respects to Elders, past and present.

We are grateful for their custodianship, their knowledge and their resilience.

We would also like to acknowledge our First Peoples as Australia’s original storytellers. Their rich storytelling inspires us to share how special Melbourne and Victoria is with the world.
