Lakes and waterfalls

Plan a day out at eerie Lake Elizabeth, located deep in the Otway Ranges. Created in 1951 when a landslide dammed the river, the lake’s calm waters are punctured by the tattered trunks of manna gums and surrounded by dense rainforest on all sides. Camp out for the night or head off on a kayaking adventure in search of the elusive platypus.

Revel in the majestic scenery and listen to the sounds of the forest on one of the nearby walking trails, and stop to gaze at misty waterfalls, mountains streams and towering eucalypts.

The fertile Otways region is home to some of the state’s finest offerings, from craft beer and shitake mushrooms to organic fruit and veg, cheeses, herbs and lamb.
